As a retired psychiatric nurse, I am interested in all types of therapy for mental health conditions and hypnosis is one of them.  I started down the "rabbit hole" when I found an article online about the myths surrounding the use of hypnosis. I researched hypnosis and was pleasantly surprised when I found positive coverage on numerous websites. 
 

Hypnosis is not a game; it is not a trick; and it is not a way to make you into a mindless being.  This technique can truly help someone who needs to be able to reduce stress, overcome phobias, lose weight, stop smoking, or sleep better.

Hypnosis, a mysterious and captivating phenomenon, has intrigued humans for centuries. Often depicted in movies and stage shows as a tool for mind control and manipulation, it remains a subject of curiosity and skepticism. In this blog post, we'll look into hypnosis to see what it truly is, how it works, and debunking common myths associated with this practice.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, wherein an individual experiences an altered state of consciousness. The word "hypnosis" is derived from the Greek word "hypnos," which means sleep, although hypnosis itself is not sleep. Instead, it induces a trance-like state that allows the person to become more receptive to suggestions and ideas.
